Leighton Baines and Gareth Barry both miss Saturday's visit of West Ham United - though Everton boss Roberto Martinez is able to welcome back winger Kevin Mirallas after a two month lay-off.
Tony Hibbert comes in at left-back in place of Baines, while Leon Osman makes his 400th Blues appearance as a replacement for Barry.
Steven Pienaar, Darron Gibson and Aiden McGeady are also absent from the matchday squad, meaning a place on the bench for 17-year-old Ryan Ledson.
Republic of Ireland duo Seamus Coleman and James McCarthy both proved their fitness in time to start at Goodison Park, while West Ham are without top scorer Diafra Sakho, fellow summer arrival Enner Valencia and England winger Stewart Downing.
Hibbert and Coleman are joined in front of goalkeeper Tim Howard by the centre-back pairing of Phil Jagielka and Sylvain Distin, with Osman and McCarthy the holding midfielders.
Mirallas, back from the hamstring problem he sustained against Liverpool at the end of September, will retake his usual position on the right wing, joining a front four that also includes Ross Barkley, Steven Naismith and Romelu Lukaku.
