Phil Jagielka admitted his late derby equaliser was extra special.
The skipper despatched a sensational long range volley into the back of the net in added time at Anfield to make the score 1-1.
Afterwards he told evertontv: "We do a lot of shooting in training and I can pull one out now and again but to pull one out in the last minute in front of the Kop and get us a point makes it extra special.
"I thought the boys dug in and deserved a point."
Jagielka insisted he would have been just as thrilled with a more run-of-the-mill goal if it had benefited his side equally.
"I would have taken a two yard tap in and celebrated it just as much," he claimed.
"We were devastated with the performance here last year but the resilience was there this year. Stonesy, Mo (Besic) and Tyias all put in good performances."
