Ledson Signs Pro Deal

by Adam Clark @efc_adamclark

Midfielder Ryan Ledson marked his 17th birthday today by putting pen-to-paper on his first professional contract.

The youngster, who has been with the Blues since the age of five, has agreed a three-year deal, keeping him at Goodison Park until the summer of 2017.

Liverpool-born Ledson rose to prominence last season when he became a regular for Everton's Under-21s, before being named on the first-team bench for the Premier League trip to Southampton at the end of April.

He then skippered England to European Under-17 Championship success in May.

"I’m delighted," Ledson told evertontv. "I’ve been here since I was a young kid and this is what you strive towards. The day has finally come, so I’m made up.

"For me, it's been 12 years of hard work at Everton Football Club to get to this day, but there is no better place to be and I’m absolutely over the moon.

"Now I just want to keep playing well for the Under-21s and then hopefully an opportunity will come around again with the first team in the future."
