John Stones’ new contract at Goodison Park receives widespread coverage in Friday’s papers.

The story features in all of the national papers, with Roberto Martinez telling the Daily Star that the five-year deal is a reward for the youngster’s performances last season.

In the Independent, Stones has targeted more progress this season as he outlines the Club’s aim to ‘better’ what was achieved in 2013/14.

Speaking in the Liverpool Echo, Stones says that he needs to become a bigger presence to further flourish in the Everton side.

Roberto Martinez has told the Echo that there are also plans to offer James McCarthy a new deal.

The Echo also report on Landon Donovan’s announcement that he will retire from football at the end of the MLS season.
