Phil Jagielka has revealed how England’s Everton contingent have been boosted by a visit from Roberto Martinez.
The Blues boss is in Brazil working for American television but also found time to check in with his captain and fellow Goodison representatives Leighton Baines and Ross Barkley.
Jagielka told evertonfc.com: “We’ve seen the gaffer and we had a good chat with him, the three of us here.
“It was nice to see him, he's over here for quite a lot of the World Cup and he gave us a lot of positives, a lot of support.”
England narrowly lost out to Italy in their World Cup opener and now face a must-win clash with Uruguay on Thursday.
Jagielka insists the squad remains confident and that Everton's trio are determined to do Blues fans proud.
“That support is something you need from your fans and your manager, and hopefully deep down he'll be a secret England fan over the summer,” continued the defender.
“Hopefully the three of us can do him and the Club proud, and hopefully we don't get much of a summer break because we'll be out here for most of it instead.”
