Ryan Ledson captained England Under-17s to a 3-0 victory over Malta on Friday evening as the Young Lions got their European Championship campaign off to the perfect start.
Jonjoe Kenny also completed the full game as John Peacock’s side ran out comfortable winners over the tournament hosts.
Fulham striker Patrick Roberts was the headline-grabber with two long-range goals, while Newcastle United frontman Adam Armstrong was also on target.
The win puts England top of Group A, level on points with Holland who edged a five-goal thriller in their opening game against Turkey earlier in the day.
Ledson and Kenny are again set to be involved when England face Turkey in their second game on Monday.
