Everton are gunning for a fifth successive home victory over Manchester City this weekend as they look to sign off at Goodison for the season in style.

One of the most memorable victories in the Blues' fine run over Saturday's visitors was when Roberto Mancini made his first trip to Merseyside as City manager in January 2010.

The Italian’s reign had started with four straight victories – but that record came to an abrupt end as Everton moved back into the top half of the Barclays Premier League table.

The damage was done in the 10 minutes leading up to half-time, firstly through Steven Pienaar’s angled free-kick.

In stoppage time before the interval, the advantage was doubled when Louis Saha scored from the penalty spot after Micah Richards was punished for pulling the striker's shirt inside the box.

The margin of victory could have been extended in the second half as Marouane Fellaini saw a header tipped onto the crossbar by Shay Given, while Tim Cahill also struck the woodwork.

Another sub-plot in the story for Manchester City was the below-par performance of striker Robinho.

The Brazilian came off the bench to replace Roque Santa Cruz in the first half, only then to be substituted by Mancini shortly after half-time. It proved to be his last Premier League appearance for Manchester City as he sealed a loan move to Santos two weeks later.
