Roberto Martinez says trying to claim three precious points is all that matters when Everton welcome Manchester United on Sunday.

The Blues face the reigning Barclays Premier League champions as David Moyes returns to Goodison Park for the first time since leaving his role as the Club's manager last May.

Under his successor, Everton find themselves just a place and a point behind fourth-placed Arsenal going into the weekend, with the Gunners' game at Hull City set to finish just minutes before the two teams take to the field at Goodison.

And despite the hype that will undoubtedly surround the fixture, Martinez insists his side are doggedly focused on the job at hand.

"This game is probably our biggest of the season,” he said.“We know how vital the three points are and that is our only concern.

"Obviously it's glamorous to see the champions at Goodison and it's great to welcome the figures that we're going to welcome and the quality of the players.

"But the three points in this period for us as a football club are more important than any aspect you can highlight in the fixture - and I think that speaks volumes of what an impressive season it's been so far. I think the biggest compliment we can pay to ourselves is that the three points at this moment are more important than all the aspects that you can mention.

"There are lots of interesting angles in this game but we're going to concentrate on the fact that the only important thing on Sunday is how well we can perform over 90 minutes and how successful we can be at the end of the game."

Manchester United currently find themselves nine points and two places behind the Toffees with a game in-hand.

But Sunday's visitors boast the best away record of any team in the top-flight, having taken 33 points from their 17 games on the road.

And Martinez added: "We are paying huge respect to this team because they are the reigning champions, they've got phenomenal footballers, and that's not going to change.

"They are in a very good moment of form, especially away from home, they're solid defensively, they've got real pace on the counter attack and we know it's going to be tough and difficult.

"But, in the same way, we're looking at ourselves and we're also on a good run. The result on Wednesday gives you a bad feeling but 21 points from 24 is probably the type of form and type of confidence you want going into a game like this."
