Everton routed West Ham United with a scintillating second-half showing when the two teams met at Goodison Park in September of the 2001/02 season.

After Kevin Campbell’s deadlock-breaking strike in first-half stoppage time, the free-scoring Blues netted four times after the interval to thrash the Hammers 5-0.

Paul Gascoigne had earlier been stretchered from the field with a knee injury, but it didn't prevent Campbell netting the opener with a towering header past goalkeeper Shaka Hislop.

Everton then went goal crazy.

Former Toffee Don Hutchison put through his own net, Tommy Gravesen finished well after a 40-yard run, Steve Watson took advantage of slack defending to make it 4-0 and the scoring was completed by debutant Tomasz Radzinski five minutes before the end.

The result ended a four-match winless streak and temporarily alleviated pressure on manager Walter Smith.

The Scot left his position later in the season and David Moyes came in to guide the Blues to 15th place in what was a largely turbulent campaign for the Club.
