Aiden McGeady says Everton’s new mentality can inspire them to a positive result at Chelsea.

The Blues travel to West London having already defeated Jose Mourinho’s side at Goodison Park this season.

But the enigmatic Portuguese has never lost a game at Stamford Bridge. It’s a scenario which has compelled McGeady to urge his teammates to prove their credentials as a Club in the upper echelons of the Premier League in the best possible fashion.

Asked about what a win would say about the Club’s potential this season, McGeady told evertontv: “I think it would send out a message that we've got to be taken quite seriously.

“I think we already are to be honest, having already beaten Chelsea at home this season, having beaten Manchester United away and having played well against the big teams. It would be nice to beat them home and away though. That would be great for us.

“I’ve played against Chelsea a couple of times before in the Champions League when I was at Spartak Moscow. We did okay at home but got a bit of a doing at Stamford Bridge, so you know it's a difficult place to go. But the good thing about this league is that anyone can beat anyone on their day.

“I don't think Chelsea have lost there under Mourinho for quite a while, so it's going to be difficult.  They've got a team littered with world class players, but I think our team's quite underrated as well, so there's every chance that we could do something there.”

McGeady revealed that the approach of Roberto Martinez was one of the man reasons for Everton’s reinvigorated away performances this term.

He continued: “With the records some teams have got, there were places you'd go knowing you've got a chance but that it's unlikely that you're going to win. But I think the manager here instills that belief in you that you can go anywhere and win.

“It's not 'hopefully we'll go there and win' but 'we can go there and win’.”
