Baines Eyes Spurs Success

by Matthew Gamble @efc_mattgamble

Leighton Baines is eyeing up an Everton win at Tottenham as the Blues continue to tackle a vitally important month of fixtures.
Everton currently sit fifth, one place and one point above the North London outfit.
With both sides having similar ambitions this term, Baines is fully aware of the significance of the Sunday afternoon clash.
He told evertontv: “It’s definitely one of the biggest games this season because they are one of the main teams competing for those European spots with us.
“It’s a big month for us because we have got big games away at Tottenham and Chelsea and the Cup game as well. So it’s a month where we need to be at our best.”
The Blues’ 2-1 win over Aston Villa last weekend kicked off their February schedule, which includes Wednesday night’s visit of Crystal Palace as well as the matches Baines mentioned.
And while he’s focussed on securing maximum points at every opportunity, he knows everyone needs to remain calm until the business end of the season.
He continued: “It is important not to get too carried away with a win or a loss at this stage.
“There is a lot of football to be played. They are important games and you want to win them because it puts you in a stronger position come the end of the season when the crunch games do come.”
