Roberto Martinez says Gerard Deulofeu is progressing well as he recovers from his hamstring injury.
Deulofeu is back with parent club Barcelona while he attempts to overcome the problem he sustained against Fulham last month.
But despite him being away from Finch Farm, Everton are in close contact with the talented Spaniard.
“He is progressing very well,” Martinez told evertontv. “We have had our own member of the medical department going over to Barcelona and spending some good time with Gerard.
“He is doing really well. It was a bit more of a complicated injury because it affected the tendon, something which we need to be sure has healed because it could get re-injured very easily, especially with the type of player that Gerard is; a sprinter.”
Martinez confirmed that there is no date set in stone for Deulofeu’s return to Merseyside but insisted he was happy with the winger’s rate of progress.
The manager added: “We reassess him every three days and from that we get a clear idea where he is. At the moment he is regenerating really well and hopefully it will carry on with no set-backs.”
