Kevin Mirallas rates his free-kick against Norwich City among the best he has netted in an Everton shirt.

The Belgian scooped the goal of the season accolade in his first year at the Club following his masterful solo dribble in the home meeting with Stoke City last March.

He posted his entry for this term with an expertly executed 25-yard free-kick to put the seal on another home victory on Saturday – Everton’s tenth success at fortress Goodison already this season.

“Maybe it’s my best goal, after the goal against Stoke City last season,” Mirallas told evertontv. “But most important today was the three points.

“Leighton said it was for me because it was in my position. I said I would score – it was a good free-kick and good for me. Against Stoke City I hit the crossbar but today I concentrated and scored a goal.

“The team played very well. We controlled the game, scoring one goal in the first half and one goal in the second half. We were a little bit tired in the second half but we won the game which is most important.”

Mirallas’ set-piece was a timely reminder to Martinez of his capabilities after the Blues boss added another winger to Everton’s ranks by capturing Aiden McGeady from Spartak Moscow.

Mirallas has welcomed McGeady to Goodison and believes the former Celtic man will boost the Toffees’ bid for a top-four finish.

He continued: “It’s good for the team because he is a good player. He has quality and now there is good competition between Gerard Deulofeu, Steven Pienaar, Steven Naismith and me.

“I’m happy for the competition because it is good for the team. We have a strong team and maybe we can qualify for the Champions League.”
