Jagielka Out For Up To Four Weeks

by Matthew Gamble @efc_mattgamble

Roberto Martinez has revealed that Everton could be without Phil Jagielka for up to four weeks.

The Everton skipper missed the 2-1 win over Southampton with a soft tissue injury sustained during the Boxing Day defeat to Sunderland.

Martinez explained that Jagielka was able to battle through that match but wasn't fit to face the Saints.

The Blues boss told evertontv: "It is a soft tissue problem. Normally it is up to four weeks but knowing Phil Jagielka is could be sooner."

Jagielka was replaced in the Everton starting XI by Antolin Alcaraz who turned in a faultless performance on his Blues debut.
