Everton are set to be without the services of Gerard Deulofeu until the new year.
The on-loan winger pulled up with a hamstring injury in the 4-1 win over Fulham at the weekend.
He was stretchered off in the 64th minute with Kevin Mirallas replacing him.
Scans have now shown the extent of the soft tissue injury in his right hamstring, which is likely to keep him out for a few weeks.
Everton face Swansea on Sunday before entertaining Sunderland on 26 December and Southampton three days later.
The Blues then visit Stoke on New Year's Day before home games against QPR in the FA Cup on 4 January an Norwich in the league on 11 January.
