Roberto Relishes Cup Opener

by Daniel Alston @efc_danalston

Roberto Martinez is excited to kick off his debut FA Cup campaign in charge of Everton with a home tie.

The Blues were paired with Championship high-flyers QPR in the third round and will compete at Goodison Park in the New Year.

And on the back of two highly impressive league displays on the road, Martinez admitted home advantage is a welcome bonus in the cup.

He told evertontv: "We’re happy to have a home draw because it’s always important in terms of preparation.

"But we're really respectful of this Queens Park Rangers side with a terrific manager in Harry Redknapp and a team that is full of confidence and full of winning feelings this season.

"It’s going to be a tough game, we’ll have to be ready and we’ll look forward to the third round."

Details for the tie will be announced in due course.

Meanwhile, the Blues are also at home against Fulham this Saturday. Click here to buy your tickets online or here for hospitality places.
