Roberto Martinez says it is not vital he adds to his squad in January - but insists he will look to be active if the right player is available.
Long-term injuries to Arouna Kone and Darron Gibson mean Everton's numbers are slightly down, thrusting the manager's January strategy into focus.
"We want to add if the right player and the right character becomes available - but it's not a real need," said Martinez at his Thursday press conference. "What is important is that after the transfer window we are again stronger than when it opens and that will always be our focus.
"I am delighted with the players we have at the Club. We have a couple of long-term injuries with Arouna Kone and Darron Gibson but overall I am very, very pleased."
The Blues boss revealed he wasn't surprised by midweek reports linking Nikica Jelavic with a move away from the Club - pointing to the rarity of out and out goalscorers in the English game.
However, that is the very reason he wants the Croatian to remain part of his squad.
"It (speculation) doesn't surprise me because obviously Nikica Jelavic is a terrific player to have, he's a goalscorer and you don't get them easily in the game.
"From our point of view he is very important and he needs to be ready to help the team when the opportunity arises, which could be very soon."
