Luke Garbutt's loan spell at Colchester United has been extended until 4 January 2014.
The 20-year-old left-back joined the U's for an initial one-month spell in September, with a previous extension set to expire this week.
Having amassed five yellow cards so far this campaign, Garbutt is suspended for Saturday's game against Swindon Town, but sealed his short-term future with John Ward's side until the New Year.
Speaking to evertontv at Finch Farm, the England Under-20 international explained he is eager to add to his 10 appearances for the League One outfit.
He told evertontv: "On a personal level, it's been very good. I've benefited from playing first-team football week-in, week-out. I've gained in confidence from each game that I've played.
"I'm enjoying my time at Colchester. They're giving me every opportunity to do what I do best on the football pitch."
