Everton Football Club has scooped the Best Football Community Scheme accolade at the second annual Football Business Awards.
The Blues were victorious in the category, beating off stiff competition from some of the leading programmes in the football family.
Officials from the Club and it’s official charity, Everton in the Community, attended the prestigious gala dinner which took place at Chelsea Football Club, where all the evening’s 16 winners were revealed to the UK football industry’s glitterati.
Everton in the Community was named Best Football Community Scheme for the second consecutive year, in recognition of its ground-breaking and inspiring work across Merseyside. The Blues’ official charity scoops the prestigious award as its historic 25th anniversary campaign to raise £1million to help even more underprivileged people in the area draws to a close at the end of the year.
The Blues were also shortlisted in the Best UK Club Marketing category for the hugely successful 'Make It Everton' campaign, alongside Best Football Club Hospitality for the excellent offerings in the lounges at Goodison Park.
The Football Business Awards have rounded off an extremely successful week for the Club, after bagging a further four awards on Monday night at the North West Football Awards in Manchester. The awards included Community Club of the Year and Community Initiative of the Year for Everton in the Community and Best Football Marketing Campaign for ‘Make it Everton’, while ladies star Toni Duggan was named Women's Player of the Year.
Speaking at the end of a momentous week the Club’s Chief Executive, Robert Elstone, said: “I am absolutely delighted and so proud of everyone who has contributed to help Everton Football Club win these fantastic awards over the past four days.
"It’s fantastic that our peers in the footballing world recognise what we are trying to achieve at Everton and reward us for it."
