Everton captain Phil Jagielka was part of a special presentation before the Blues' game at Aston Villa.
Jagielka and life president Sir Philip Carter were joined by FA chairman Greg Dyke shortly before kick off as part of the Football Association's 150th anniversary celebrations.
A presentation was also made to Villa skipper Ron Vlaar.
The gesture was made to acknowledge Everton and Villa being the two sides who have played each other most in the top flight.
Saturday's meeting in the Midlands was the 199th between the two sides in England's top tier.
