Leighton Baines' thunderous free-kick against Newcastle United last season has been nominated in the Goal of the Year category at the Northwest Football Awards.
It means the defender will be competing for two prizes on the night, having also been shortlisted for the Northwest Premier League Player of the Year gong.
Baines' stunning 30-yard effort on 2 January bamboozled Magpies stopper Tim Krul and helped the Blues on their way to a fine 2-1 win at St James' Park.
The left-back will be hoping to gain a victory for Everton over Liverpool in the category, with his England teammate Daniel Sturridge also nominated for his solo effort in a 1-0 win at Aston Villa in August.
Also shortlisted are Manchester United's Robin van Persie, Manchester City's Sergio Aguero, Oldham Athletic's Cristian Montano and Burnley's Danny Ings, while former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher, Michael Carrick of Manchester United and Manchester City's Pablo Zabaleta are Baines' rivals for Player of the Year.
Midfielder Ross Barkley has been nominated in the Rising Star Award category, with Nikita Parris and Toni Duggan up against Liverpool's Gemma Bonner for Women's Player of the Year.
The awards, which will be held at Lancashire County Cricket Club's The Point Conference Centre on 4 November, also recognise community excellence, with Everton in the Community up for a hat-trick of prizes. For more information on the nominations for our Club’s charity, click here.
