It wasn't the best of weeks for the Blues' current loan trio, but Shane Duffy, Luke Garbutt and Francisco Junior all gained valuable game time away from Everton.

Duffy has fitted straight into the Yeovil Town starting XI following his one-month loan move, but the Glovers are currently struggling at the foot of the Championship.

Two defeats in five days at the start of October - a 2-1 home loss to Leicester and a 4-1 reverse at Middlesbrough - currently leave the Huish Park side in the drop-zone.

But while scorelines will matter most to the Yeovil faithful, supporter and blogger Ben Barrett took the time to analyse Duffy's own performances and how he has settled into Gary Johnson's side.

"It was a tough week for everyone at Yeovil and Shane," reflects Ben.
"That said, another 90 minutes will have benefited the Irishman. He had to cope with a new central defensive partner and a Boro side intent on inflicting some serious damage.

"I’m not sure he was at fault for any of the goals and he did play a fairly large part in our opener, heading a long ball through to Liam Davis.

"His previous games had been much better, both individually and as part of the side in general. His debut against Bolton was rather impressive, settling in immediately and getting plaudits for his performance and command of the defence.

"It’s a similar story for his first appearance down at Huish Park, too – but with Byron Webster returning from suspension and Liam Fontaine due back from injury soon, he could have a tough task keeping his spot with our other centre-back Dan Seaborne proving to be Mr Reliable at the back.

"But he’s not done himself any harm though, that’s for sure. Here’s hoping he comes back from international duty injury free!"

Meanwhile, in League One, left-back Garbutt played the full 90 minutes of Colchester United's 3-0 home defeat to Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The visitors are flying in the third tier, and the in-form Leigh Griffiths was on hand to bag a brace, leaving the U's with a day to forget.

Joe Dunne's side will look to make amends this weekend when Walsall visit the Colchester Community Stadium, while Yeovil must wait until 19 October for their next fixture.

Duffy departs with the Republic of Ireland Under-21 squad this week for two European Championship qualifiers against Romania on 11 and 15 October.

And finally, in the Eredivisie, Junior picked up more minutes during his season-long loan at Vitesse Arnhem, but was unable to prevent back-to-back defeats.

On Wednesday the Dutch outfit found themselves 1-0 down after seven minutes at ADO Den Haag. Midfielder Junior was introduced at the break and midway through the second half, Davy Pröpper equalised.

It would be a short-lived response, however, as Mathias Gehrt soon grabbed a winner for hosts.

Junior's 45-minute appearance didn't earn the Portugal Under-21 international a role in Sunday's big game against Feyenoord - which they lost 2-1 at home.

Seventh-placed Vitesse now await a 19 October trip to Heerenveen, who sit one point and two places above them.

Keep an eye on for more round-ups of the Blues' loan stars.
