Lukaku Handed Home Debut

by Matthew Gamble @efc_mattgamble

Romelu Lukaku makes his home debut for Everton as the Blues entertain Newcastle.

His inclusion in place of Nikica Jelavic is one of two changes from the Toffees' last Premier League game at West Ham.

The other sees James McCarthy come in for Steven Naismith, who drops to the bench.

Gareth Barry starts the game and will make his 500th Premier League appearance - only the 10th man to do so.

There is no place in the matchday squad for Darron Gibson despite the midfielder coming through 70 minutes in the Capital One Cup in the week.

But Arouna Kone returns to the bench after a knee problem.

Newcastle include in form Loic Remy and Hatem Ben Arfa in their starting line-up.

Everton: Howard, Baines, Osman, Jagielka, Distin, Coleman, Barry, Barkley, Mirallas, McCarthy, Lukaku. Subs: Robles, Heitinga, Jelavic, Kone, Deulofeu, Naismith, Stones.

Newcastle: Krul, Coloccini, Santon, Anita, Ben Arfa, Gouffran, Yanga-Mbiwa, Remy, Sissoko, Tiote, Debuchy. Subs: Cabaye, Williamson, Cisse, Elliot, Obertan, Ameobi, Dummett.
