Boss Relishes Goodison Atmosphere

by Rob Urbani @efc_roburbani

Roberto Martinez has hailed the unique atmosphere Goodison creates for evening games.
The Blues entertain Newcastle on Monday (8pm) with the manager confident the vocal backing of the Goodison faithful can help his side extend their remarkable run of form on home soil.
Everton have only suffered one defeat in their last 24 matches on home soil and go into the clash with Magpies having kept seven successive clean sheets at Goodison in the league.
Keep another clean sheet against Alan Pardew's men and the run will equal a Club record set in 1987/88.
Martinez told evertontv: "We rely on our fans and that is why, when you play at home, you look forward to seeing a full capacity Goodison. As a player you look forward to playing with that support that we get as a home team."

The manager believes the crowd played a vital part in ensuring the last home match against Chelsea ended in victory.
He continued: "I did feel that the support we got in the second half against Chelsea was a real advantage and we want to replicate that. They really make the difference. You can look at the results we had last season and that shows the chemistry between the players and the fans."
Indeed, the manager believes the camaraderie between the players and fans at Everton is something special in English football.
He added: "They are special. It is a classic environment to enjoy your football. The evening kick-off and the special feel that being under the floodlights brings to Goodison.
"All the players are really looking forward to playing those sort of games and we are really looking forward to relying on our fans to help us perform at the highest level."
