Rhino Making His Mark

Everton Under-21s boss Alan Stubbs believes his young players are already benefitting from working with David Unsworth.

Unsworth recently rejoined the Toffees as Stubbs' assistant, having previously coached at Preston North End and Sheffield United.

In heading back to a club where he made over 350 appearances, Unsworth became the latest in a long line of former players to rejoin Everton, linking up with the likes of Duncan Ferguson, Kevin Sheedy and Stubbs on the current coaching staff.

And after sharing a dugout with his new right-hand man for the first time in Monday's 1-1 draw at Newcastle, Stubbs told evertonfc.com: “It was great to have him there. It's good to have someone on your shoulder who's prompting you and probing you and maybe seeing things that you haven't seen. It's good to bounce ideas off someone.

“There'll be times when we agree, times when we don't, but I think we've got that respect for each other where if we try something and it happens, great; if it doesn't, we'll move on and learn from it.

“It's good from my point of view to have him here and it's good for the players to have a different voice around and someone else to learn off.”

Everton Under-21s' next fixture is against Chelsea at Goodison Park on Monday (kick off 7pm).

Entrance to the Upper Bullens stand is free for Season Ticket holders and FOREVERTON members. Cash turnstiles will be in operation with tickets £5 for adults and £3 for concessions.
