There is minimal Everton coverage in Tuesday's national press but Gareth Barry’s excellent debut at the weekend continues to be the talk of the local papers.
In the Liverpool Echo, Leighton Baines admits the Manchester City contingent in the last England squad couldn’t believe the club had let the midfielder leave on loan. The left-back also hailed Barry’s excellent performance in the 1-0 win over Chelsea.
Saturday’s match-winner Steven Naismith also features in the same paper, explaining that he finally believes he can make the breakthrough at Goodison Park a year after signing from Rangers.
Also in the Echo, former Blues hero Ian Snodin talks about Naismith in his column and he feels the Scot produced his finest display in an Everton shirt which fully deserved the standing ovation he received when he exited the pitch.
Finally, manager Roberto Martinez has also told the Echo that he believes the club have made an exciting start to the season but admits it will take time for the team to reach its full potential.
