Rom Ready To Rise

by Adam Clark @efc_adamclark

Romelu Lukaku is aiming to have an even bigger impact at Goodison Park than he did on loan at West Bromwich Albion last term.

The Chelsea starlet smashed 17 goals in just 20 Premier League starts for the Baggies as he fired Steve Clarke’s side to a surprise eighth-place finish.

Everton trumped West Brom to secure a season-long loan deal for Lukaku on transfer deadline day earlier this month.

And now the 20-year-old is ready to prove why he has been touted as one of the hottest young prospects in world football.

Speaking exclusively to evertontv, Lukaku said: “Still I can improve and that’s why I came here - because it’s a big club and a team who play at the top of the league.

“For me, it’s the next step I need, so I have to settle in as quickly as I can and set better standards then I did last year.

“I will work for it and you have to be confident in your abilities, because you always have to improve.”

Though Lukaku admits to setting himself a goal target for his time on Merseyside, he insists such details will remain private.

What he will divulge is a willingness to give his all for the Everton cause.

“As a striker you have to keep yourself to your task and that’s scoring goals, but my target is personal,” he said. “Hopefully it will go right this season but you have to think for the team as well.

“I need to help the team to where they need to be and that’s as close as possible or even in the top six.

"I’m here to help and hopefully it will be with a lot of goals too.”
