All three of Everton’s deadline day signings feature in Thursday’s newspapers.

In the Liverpool Echo, James McCarthy has spoken of his delight at being reunited with Roberto Martinez. The midfielder is also determined to be playing in Europe with the club come the end of the season.

In the Daily Express and Daily Mirror, McCarthy also expressed his disappointment that Giovanni Trapattoni yesterday left his role as Republic of Ireland boss. The 22-year-old has also been discussing the candidates to replace the Italian. Roy Keane and Martin O’Neill have been linked with the position.

Also in the Daily Express, Martinez believes loan signing Gareth Barry can force his way back into the England team in time for next year’s World Cup in Brazil.

Fellow loan signing Romelu Lukaku features in the Daily Mail, with the paper reporting  that the Belgian is aiming for three points at the weekend - despite the Blues facing his parent club Chelsea.

And finally, Blues frontman Steven Naismith has told the Daily Record that he is the man to lead the Scotland attack following his impressive display in Macedonia on Tuesday night.
