Ross Barkley’s first senior England call-up receives widespread coverage in Wednesday’s newspapers.

The Daily Mail and Daily Telegraph both include quotes from Everton boss Roberto Martinez, who claims the Blues midfielder has got ‘no weaknesses’ and reminds him of former Germany captain Michael Ballack.

Again, there is more transfer speculation, with Martinez dismissing reports Everton have expressed an interest in Wigan's James McCarthy in the Liverpool Echo.

In the Daily Express, there are more quotes from Martinez on the recent speculation surrounding Everton’s players. The Spaniard insists that there have been no fresh bids for any members of his squad.

Looking ahead to Wednesday evening’s Capital One Cup tie against Stevenage, Martinez has told the Echo that winning silverware is part of Everton’s heritage and that he hopes to add more to the club’s trophy cabinet during his reign at Goodison Park.

The Guardian and Daily Mirror also report that Gerard Deulofeu will make his Blues debut against Stevenage later this evening.
