Everton Under-21s have returned to Merseyside following their six-day training camp in Spain.
During their stay in Jerez, the players and staff were followed closely as the evertontv cameras filmed exclusive behind the scenes content.
While the emphasis was undoubtedly on preparation for the new season, the trip also included a fun element. The players took part in a number of light-hearted games and challenges – all captured by the evertontv cameras for the Club’s new YouTube channel.
After training on Tuesday, the team took part in the crossbar challenge; the aim of which is to try and strike the woodwork on the full from the halfway line.
This was followed on Friday by another group task, this time the target being who could score direct from a corner without the ball bouncing. Alan Stubbs picked up the microphone on both occasions to provide the commentary.
The Under-21s coach was also happy to talk watchers through the action when defenders Matthew Pennington and Tyias Browing, along with Luke Garbutt and John Lundstram, attempted as many headers as they possibly could in the space of a minute in the ‘heads-up’ challenge.
Subscribers to Everton’s YouTube channel can also find out who won when Alan Stubbs and physio Richie Porter teed-off in a one-hole shootout at the Montecastillo complex’s on-site golf course.
The Under-21s players’ football knowledge was put to the test when Gethin Jones and Conor Grant, Ibou Touray and Chris Long, plus Jonjoe Kenny and Ryan Ledson all sat down to answer as many questions as possible in the space of 60 seconds.
Of course, there was the game against Real Betis B on Wednesday evening and highlights feature on the Everton’s YouTube channel, along with an exclusive behind the scenes package following the players and staff throughout the day in the build-up to kick off.
Performance Analyst Luke Benstead and Kitman Shaun Doran also gave an insight into their roles both before and during the game.
In addition, youngsters Mateusz Taudul, Tyias Browning and John Lundstram took time to sit down in front of the camera at different stages of the trip to discuss their hopes and aims for new campaign.
Fans were also invited to Tweet in their questions to Alan Stubbs. The former Blues skipper answered a number of these in the first instalment of the #AskStubbs feature.
