Everton have been linked with a move for Ajax's Belgian defender Toby Alderweireld in Sunday's newspapers.
The Sunday People claim Roberto Martinez sent his chief scout Kevin Reeves to watch the centre-half in action in the Dutch Super Cup final against AZ last weekend.
Alderweireld has only one year remaining on his existing contract and the 24-year-old is thought to be keen on a move before the transfer window closes.
The same newspaper also reports there has been interest from Championship clubs wanting to take defender John Stones on loan.
Martinez is thought, however, to want to keep the 19-year-old at Goodison Park.
Elsewhere, the Daily Mail and Daily Star Sunday report that Manchester United boss David Moyes is readying himself to make approaches for Marouane Fellaini and Leighton Baines.
The Sunday Express believe Moyes has held off bidding for Fellaini as he is still waiting on top target Cesc Fabregas of Barcelona.
