The back page of Saturday's Liverpool Echo leads with comments from Roberto Martinez that new Blues defender Antolin Alcaraz could prove to be one of the deals of the summer.

Everton signed the 30-year-old Paraguay international earlier this month and Martinez says it is rare for such an experienced player to be available on a free transfer.

Tyias Browning becoming the latest teenager to sign a new contract with Everton is also covered by the Echo. The 19-year-old has followed in the footsteps of Conor Grant, Chris Long and Matthew Pennington after agreeing new terms with the Club recently. Browning, who played more times than anyone for Alan Stubbs' under-21s side last season, has signed a two-year deal.

The Echo also report that Leighton Baines is set to miss today's friendly with Blackburn Rovers because of an injury but will travel to America tomorrow with the Blues and is expected to be fit for Wednesday's game with Juventus.

Roberto Martinez's hopes for Everton to secure a slot in the NextGen Series is also reported in today's Echo. The report says that Martinez believes the Blues' Academy players will benefit hugely from taking part in the Champions League-style tournament alongside some of Europe's top clubs.

With the focus firmly on the anniversary of the London Olympic Games, there is slim pickings for Everton in today's national papers.

The Daily Mail mentions that Everton are among the clubs who have made enquiries about Juventus' Alessandro Matri.
