Seamus Coleman insists that Everton’s trip to Championship outfit Blackburn Rovers on Saturday is something he is certainly looking forward to.
The Blues squad travel to Ewood Park as part of their continuing preparations for the start of the new Premier League campaign, and after facing League Two side Accrington Stanley last week, the Republic of Ireland international is eager to face tougher opposition this time around.
“The Accrington game was a good run-out but Blackburn will be a step up again and it's one we are looking forward to,” he explained to evertontv.
On Sunday, the day after the game, the Everton team will fly to the US to embark on their tour of the country as part of the International Champions Cup.
Coleman hopes a good result against the Rovers will stand them in good stead for the trip Stateside.
“We will be wanting to head away to America after a victory,” he said.
“It's a good trip with some brilliant games, some of the teams out there are top, top teams which will really test us. We are looking forward to it.”
Everton have been drawn to play Juventus in their first game of the competition on Wednesday 31 July before potential fixtures against the likes of Spanish giants Real Madrid and 2010 UEFA Champions League winners Inter Milan.
