In today's papers the Liverpool Echo reports on the 4-1 win over Accrington, noting that the Blues looked 'relaxed and in control' during the friendly workout.

The same paper reveals assistant boss Graeme Jones' view that Darron Gibson is set to become a vital cog in Roberto Martinez's side, declaring: "Early on he looks like our playmaker although there’s a long way to go."

The Daily Star reveal that Martinez is operating a totally different pre-seaon ethos to his predecessor, carrying quotes from Phil Jagielka to back them up.

They also say John Heitinga could be on his way to Fenerbahce.

The Mail carries a similar line on the Dutch defender.

Meanwhile, in the Liverpool Post, they report on Martinez's belief that goalkeeper Joel can challenge Tim Howard for a starting place this season.
