Victor Anichebe features on the back page of Saturday’s Liverpool Echo.

The striker is quoted saying he is confident of maintaining his good form from the end of last season and says he wants to ensure he is contention for a starting position for the forthcoming campaign.
The powerful striker scored a career best total of eight goals last term, but with the arrival of Arouna Kone and Gerard Deulofeu to Goodison Park, the Nigerian says he knows he must build on his bright end to the 2012/13 season.
The Echo has also ran a story about the Blues’ new goalkeeper, Joel Robles, who is one of the best shot-stoppers around, according to the Club’s new goalkeeping coach, Inaki Bergara.

Bergara worked closely with Robles last term when the 23-year-old spent five months on loan at Wigan.
Additionally, the Echo has carried an interview with former Everton captain Dave Watson, who believes the Blues are in good hands under Roberto Martinez.

The Club’s new manager turns 40 today, and despite his young age has already experienced a significant amount of character building highs and lows than many managers amass in an entire career, according to Watson, who worked with the Spaniard during his time at Wigan Athletic.
Meanwhile, the national papers reported on Everton’s Jill Scott, who featured for England Ladies in their opening game against Spain in the Women’s European Championships in Sweden.

The Lionesses lost 3-2 following an own-goal from keeper Karen Bardsley three minutes into stoppage time. The Blues’ midfielder was credited for an outstanding pass which led to England’s opening goal.
