Steven Naismith has told how Phil Jagielka has been leading by example in Austria this week.
The Scotland international was speaking to evertontv as part of a new feature for pre-season 2013 called Tour Tales.
Naismith was asked to name the hardest and slackest workers he’d come across in his career and picked out the newly-appointed skipper as a fine example to follow.
“Nowadays I think the majority of the squad are up giving their all and they’re very fit guys, so I wouldn’t really be able to pick one out,” he said. “But maybe Jags this season has showed what he’s made of.
"With him being captain there’s obviously extra responsibility for him.”
Naismith also revealed why he retains particularly fond memories of one summer trip to Italy, outed the worst snorer he’s ever encountered and shed light on the pre-season prank that's had him laughing loudest.
We’ll be speaking to more first-team players about their Tour Tales as the summer rolls on.
