Thursday’s newspapers link Roberto Martinez with a double transfer raid on his former club Wigan Athletic.

The Daily Express and Daily Mail claim that the Blues boss will snap up both Arouna Kone and Antolin Alcaraz, with deals for the pair set to be completed before the end of the week.

The Guardian report that Goodison Park could be a potential destination for Ecuador international Jefferson Montero. The 23-year-old winger, who plays for Mexican side Morelia, is a target for West Ham United but Everton are also believed to be interested.

In the Daily Star and Liverpool Echo, Leighton Baines has been speaking about his eagerness to start work with Martinez and how Everton could become an attractive team to watch under the Spaniard’s stewardship. Click here to watch an evertontv interview with the England left-back.

Following the topics raised and discussed at Wednesday evening’s general meeting, the Echo also include stories on how Everton are exploring the option of a new stadium near Goodison Park and that the Club are making enquiries for two summer signings.

Ross Barkley’s performance in England’s 1-1 draw with Chile in the Under-20s World Cup is mentioned in the Daily Mirror. The Blues midfielder is credited for providing the assist which led to Harry Kane’s second-half equaliser.
