Roberto Martinez has revealed he's been deeply touched by the response of Everton fans since his arrival at Goodison Park.
The Spaniard was only appointed the new Blues boss in early June but has already been inundated with messages of good luck and support.
The 39-year-old now wants to learn even more about the Club’s supporters as he begins the process of building an Everton side capable of more success.
Speaking exclusively to evertontv, Martinez said: “It has been an incredible response from fans. I know how big of a club we are and obviously the tradition that we have.
“But it is only when you get to speak with the fans that you get that passion through that you understand the magnitude of our football club. That really excites me.
“I want to meet more fans and get to know what they think – that is very important to me. The club should always reflect what the fans want.
“That’s one of the biggest jobs we have - that we all become a strong unit as quick as we can as a football club. It helps the players with what they do on the pitch and that will give us a huge strength.”
The Blues had the best home record in the Premier League last term with their only defeat coming in December against Chelsea.
Martinez now wants to build on that form with the fans playing a major part.
“You look at the record the team had last season at Goodison and that tells you the influence from the fans,” he added. “I’m extremely excited to have that relationship with the fans and will make sure I get to know what they think and what they want, because we all need to be very close over the coming months and coming seasons.”
