David Weir’s appointment as Sheffield United manager is reported on in the majority of Tuesday’s national newspapers.

The 43-year-old, who left Goodison Park yesterday to take up the position at Bramall Lane, is quoted in the Liverpool Echo as saying he will ‘work hard and give everything’ to be successful at the League One club.

Also in the Echo, Graeme Sharp believes that Roberto Martinez does not need to make major changes to the current Everton squad in order to build on last season’s sixth place finish in the Premier League.

Seamus Coleman has been speaking ahead of the Republic of Ireland’s international friendly against Spain on Tuesday evening. The full-back, whose quotes feature in the Echo, explains that he is looking forward to impressing new manager Martinez at the start of pre-season.

Also in the Echo is a short piece detailing the renovation work currently taking place on the Goodison Park pitch.

Meanwhile, respected Daily Telegraph journalist Henry Winter has written an article on former Blue Jack Rodwell and how it would have benefitted his football development to have been part of the England Under-21s squad at the European Championships in Israel rather than travel with the senior squad to Brazil where he played just seven minutes.
