Phil Jagielka features prominently in Tuesday’s newspapers after the central defender addressed the national media at England’s open training day over the weekend.

In the Daily Express, Jagielka says he is keen to make up for lost time with his international career. The Everton captain wants to add to the 16 caps he has won over the last five years.

The Guardian also reports on how the centre-half wants to become a mainstay in Roy Hodgson's back four following the retirement of Rio Ferdinand and John Terry.

The same paper claims Phil Neville, Steve Round, Chris Woods and chief scout Robbie Cooke will follow David Moyes to Manchester United this summer.

The Daily Star says that Neville could even be installed as Moyes’ new assistant should he not be appointed as the next Everton manager.

Jagielka, however, has ruled out a switch to Old Trafford this summer, according to the Liverpool Echo and the Daily Mail. The defender says he ‘definitely sees his future at Everton’.

One defender linked with a move away from Everton is John Heitinga, with the Mail claiming the Dutchman will not renew his contract next summer when his existing deal expires.

And the Independent features an interview with Everton Under-18s coach Kevin Sheedy. The former winger reminisces about his goal for Republic of Ireland against England at the 1990 World Cup ahead of this Wednesday evening’s rematch at Wembley.
