Today's Daily Telegraph reports that Everton have defended a change to their club Crest, insisting it was essential to adopt a modern design 13 years since the last alteration.

Everton say a consultation period has taken place since October, inclusive of fans, and the Club motto 'Nil Satis Nisi Optimum' will instead be extended to a more visible presence at Goodison Park.

The paper also report Everton are not the first Premier League team to have seen an adverse reaction to a change in crest. In 2002, Arsenal removed the Latin Victoria Concordia Crescit (victory grows through togetherness) as they too adopted a more streamline look to ensure more accurate and consistent media exposure.

Elsewhere, Roberto Martinez is again at the centre of speculation surrounding the vacant managerial position at the Club.

According to The Times and the Daily Express, the 39-year-old is set to tell Wigan chairman Dave Whelan he is ready to leave the DW Stadium in search of a fresh challenge.

Both newspapers claim this will lead Everton to launch an official approach for the Spaniard.

The Daily Mirror also suggest Martinez could be Goodison Park bound but say the Blues will have to pay to release him from his existing contract.

Today's Liverpool Echo reports the news that Everton will head to the USA for a pre-season tour.

The Toffees will play three from Juventus, LA Galaxy, Inter Milan, AC Milan, Chelsea, Valencia and Real Madrid in the International Champions Cup.
