Everton and Sodexo have triumphed at the annual Football Hospitality Awards.
The Blues won gold and were named first in class in the prestigious ‘Chef Team of the Year’ category, with members of the Everton Sodexo team also being recognised in two other categories.
Sodexo office manager Marie Rotherham received a ‘merit’ for her commitment and service in the Special Achievement Award category, while sous chef Jameel Skeet-Pierre received a ‘silver commendation’ in the Star of the Future award, narrowly missing out on the top spot.
Over 300 guests from football stadia across the country celebrated their off the pitch successes at the Official Football Hospitality Awards 2013 on Thursday night.
Now in their ninth year, the awards recognise the efforts and dedication shown by the catering, conference and events teams at every football stadium across the UK from the Premier League to League Two.
The prestigious event, organised by Stadium Experience, was held at the Madejski Stadium, home of Reading Football Club.
In total, 43 different football clubs were eligible for at least one of 18 possible awards. Some awards were entered by the clubs themselves, while others were by nomination from fans, media and other club directors.
Everton’s executive chef Gareth Billington said: "I am extremely proud to receive this award and for the team to be recognised as the best in the country.
"The chefs at Goodison work extremely hard to make sure corporate supporters receive the very best on a matchday. We were up against some very talented chefs in this category so we are delighted to come out on top.”
