Today’s Liverpool Echo is reporting that Wigan Athletic chairman Dave Whelan would not stand in the way of Roberto Martinez should Everton make an approach for the Spaniard to become the Club’s new manager.

Also in the Echo is an interview with Blues goalkeeper Tim Howard who reveals that David Moyes told the Everton players that he will be leaving the Club last Thursday during a team meeting after training.

Quotes from Alan Stubbs – as featured on on Tuesday – also appear in the Echo , with the Club’s Under-21s coach offering his reaction to the narrow play-off semi-final 3-2 defeat at Tottenham Hotspur on Monday evening.

The Daily Mirror reports that Leon Osman is close to signing a new contract at Everton which would extend his stay at Goodison for a further two years. The same article also claims that Phil Neville could remain at the Club in a coaching capacity.

Inside the Times, Fulham boss Martin Jol is linked as a potential successor to David Moyes, as is current Brighton boss Gus Poyet in the Daily Mail.
