Tim Cahill says he has contacted 'father figure' David Moyes to wish him success in his new challenge at Manchester United.
The Australian has hailed Moyes for the positive influence he had on his own career at Goodison Park which came to an end last summer after eight memorable years.
“I text to wish him [Moyes] all the best and I got a really nice text back,” explained the New York Red Bulls man.
“Every day I’m on the phone to Phil Neville and we are always talking about Everton and how much David Moyes means to the club.
“He is probably one of the closest people in football, in a manager’s role, that I can turn to for support or anything to do with football.
“From my personal experience and relationship, he was like a father figure. He wasn’t someone that always needed to praise you but he got the best out of you on and off the park.”
