Phil Neville expects Sunday's game against West Ham to be a special day.
Neville will bid farewell to Goodison Park on Sunday after eight years of service - but this week it also emerged that the game will be the final home match for manager David Moyes before he moves to Manchester United this summer.
Neville told evertontv: "With the events of this week, I think in terms of football days - for Everton Football Club and for me and for the manager, the players, the supporters and the chairman - I think this is going to be one of those special days we remember for the rest of our lives.
"Forget my situation, just in terms of the celebration for the manager and his achievements, it is going to be an unbelievable day and I can't wait to be involved in it."
Neville, who has been skipper for six-and-a-half of his eight Everton years, insists he's happy for Moyes' departure to overshadow his own.
"I am actually a little bit glad, I don't want any fuss," he insisted. "I have not deserved the fuss, I have just been a player. There are better players than me who have left this football club that have achieved a lot more than me at this football club.
"All I want is the opportunity to say 'thank you'. I have done that in my programme notes but I also want to put my feet on that turf again and wave and clap and do the lap of honour with the players and my family to say 'thank you' because this has been an unbelievable period in my career.
“People say I have not won a trophy and yes, that's a big disappointment, but in terms of happiness, learning, meeting friends and growing up as a person, finding out a lot about myself, this has been an incredible period.
“People ask if  I am sad, but I am not sad, I am proud. This is a celebration for me that I have played for one of the biggest clubs in England and I have been captain of this great club.
"I have got so many friends here and it will retain a special place in my heart."
