What The Papers Say - 4 May

by Matthew Gamble @efc_mattgamble

Sunday's Merseyside derby continues to dominate the local and national media.

In the Liverpool Echo David Moyes explains that Everton's main motivation on Sunday will be keeping up their pursuit of Europe rather than securing local bragging rights.

In the same paper the Everton boss also reveals his belief that Kevin Mirallas can scare Liverpool's defence at Anfield this weekend.

The Daily Express carries quotes from Steven Gerrard as the Liverpool skipper insists he's not bothered if Liverpool finish below Everton again this season.

In the Daily Mail, Moyes reportedly stresses his desire to beat Liverpool in Sunday's Merseyside derby at Anfield is not driven by any sense of personal mission.

The Guardian claims the magnitude of the Merseyside derby has slipped in recent years, the the heavyweight clash often defining the destination of the league title before the Premier League era.
