Baines Honoured By Supporters’ Clubs

@Everton

Leighton Baines was the big winner at the 2012/13 Everton Supporters Clubs’ end of season awards last night when he scooped the player of season as well as collecting the goal of the season for his stunning strike against Newcastle United at St James’ Park in January.

Representatives of all our official Supporters Clubs were invited to attend the event at Goodison Park on Thursday evening after they had voted for their Player and Goal of the season.

Radio City’s Everton commentator Alan Irwin presented the event and he was joined on the top table by 1995 FA Cup winner Joe Parkinson and, of course, the man of the moment, Leighton Baines.

“It’s always nice to win individual awards and to get something from the fans is extra special,” said Baines.

“The support we get home and away is phenomenal and I am always honoured to receive any award from the fans.”

Around 100 Evertonians were in attendance in the Alex Young Lounge at Goodison and they enjoyed complimentary food and drink before Alan Irwin conducted Question & Answer sessions with the two guests.

Baines and Parkinson then mingled with the supporters for photograph and autograph opportunities before the evening was rounded off with an Everton quiz, the first prize was a ball signed by the first-team squad.

The night’s other winners were the ‘Toffees Together’ cycle challenge team, who benefitted to the tune of £256, courtesy of proceeds raised by a raffle on the night.
