David Moyes says Ross Barkley is beginning to make up for lost time.

The midfielder, 19, has started two of Everton's last three games in a long awaited first team breakthrough.

But after serious injuries in his teenage years Moyes insists Barkley's football education is far from complete - despite important loan spells at Sheffield Wednesday and Leeds earlier this term.

Moyes said: "He has gained a lot from the loans. He is a boy who missed a lot of football. He's had a broken leg and injuries earlier when he was younger so he's missed a bit of his early development.

"There's been a lot said and everybody is saying 'get him in' but the time has to be right and we have got to see enough to suggest that he should be in the team as well."

Barkley's display at Arsenal on Tuesday was widely regarded as his best showing in a Blue shirt.

"He is beginning to show more signs than he has in the past, he's maturing a bit more," agreed Moyes. "The games he had on loan will have helped him realise how important it is every Saturday.

"He's not really been fazed by the big games, we are still bedding him down but we are pleased and he's going in the right direction."

2013/14 Season Tickets are now on sale. The Early Bird window is now closed, but great deals are still available - including £95 seats for Under-11s, while Under-16s can attend all 19 Premier League home games next term for as little as £149. Click here for more information.
