Everton travel to the North East this Saturday afternoon searching for the three points to elevate themselves into the European qualification positions.

With Tottenham facing Manchester City at home on Sunday, a victory at the Stadium of Light would see the Blues leapfrog Spurs into fifth place in the Premier League table.

Here we preview the weekend encounter with the help of stats, facts and numbers…

0 Minutes missed by Leighton Baines in the Premier League season. The full-back can still match his feat of 2010/11 when he appeared in every minute of the league campaign.

3 Premier League goals for Steven Pienaar against Sunderland for Everton. This is more than the South African has scored against any other side.

Steven Pienaar

4 Clean sheets for the Toffees in their last five league games, having had the same number in the previous 28 Premier League matches of 2012/13.

5 League games in which Everton have failed to score this season, one more than the post-War record of four which was set in 1984/85. If we score in each of the five remaining fixtures, we would equal the tally achieved in 1964/65 and 1985/86.

7 Goals scored by Everton in our biggest victory of the David Moyes’ era. This was against Sunderland in the 7-1 win at Goodison in November 2007.

Tim Cahill Sunderland Goal

18 Matches in all competitions that David Moyes has taken charge of Everton against Sunderland, with no defeat in that time. The Scot has won 13 and drawn five of those games. It remains the best record of an Everton manager against any side, the next being the eight games undefeated for Gordon Lee and Colin Harvey against Derby County and Middlesbrough respectively.

23 Meetings between the clubs in the Premier League, with the Toffees victorious 13 times against five defeats. Our last loss in this fixture was in December 2001 when the Blues went down 1-0 to a Claudio Reyna goal at the Stadium of Light.

46 Years since an Everton hat-trick against Sunderland in a league game. This was netted by Johnny Morrissey at Goodison in May 1967.

100 Clean sheets for Tim Howard in the Premier League after the American reached the landmark in his 300th top flight appearance against Arsenal on Tuesday.

600 League away wins for Everton in their history if they are victorious on Saturday.
