Moyes Defends Physical Blues

by Matthew Gamble @efc_mattgamble

David Moyes has defended his team's muscular approach during Tuesday’s 0-0 draw at Arsenal.
Everton's gutsy, full-blooded display earned plenty of plaudits but Gunners boss Arsene Wenger felt otherwise.
Wenger said: "I felt that in the first half the referee didn't deal at all well with the intimidating physical challenges."
But Moyes responded in bullish fashion.

“Do you mean when we were a little bit rough with the tackling? Up north we do that quite often. That's actually allowed in football,” he said.
"We weren't going to come here and let Arsenal stroke the ball around and make 600 tackles. He was upset. I just thought he was quite a lot."
Wenger felt Darron Gibson was fortunate to escape a red card after some robust tackling in the first half but the Everton manager insisted he was never worried that the Blues’ physicality would overstep the mark.
Moyes added: “I wasn't nervous because I thought we made it a right good game. Everton got the crowd going. I've been at the Emirates and it's been quiet, but Everton got the crowd going.
"Because you make tackles, not every one is a foul, and not every one means you have to kick it out of play."
